Do You Know Ebonics??? We Are Looking For YOU...

What is EBONICS??? Ebonics was originally supposed to be the language of SLANG in the African American Community. Now we KNOW it has some what TAKEN OVER. RIGHT?? Let's not act dumb about that. But is this really going too far???

Wanted by the Drug Enforcement Administration: Ebonics translators.

YES that's right...the DEA is looking for nine people to translate some of the conversations they are hearing on the tapes of some wiretaps. Special Agent Michael Sanders said this...

"DEA's position is, it's a language form we have a need for. "I think it's a language form that DEA recognizes a need to have someone versed in to conduct investigations. And Ebonics is no longer spoken only by African-Americans. It crosses over geographic, racial and ethnic backgrounds. "
The positions are available in Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans and even the Caribbean.

Sidenote: If they were really smart, they would just get Pookey off the street and give him a $100 for translating the conversation. I'm just saying. But hey, if you know someone looking for a gig, pass this along! :)

What do you all think?

Runway Collision: Climb Aboard and Enjoy the Ride
Taylor LaRue is a high-fashion model and engaged to wealthy attorney, Stephen Blake III. She often finds herself in the "danger zone" when Stephen is late coming home or a no-show all together. "Danger Zone" is when Taylor wonders if he is with someone else and if she should even go through with their marriage. Only a week before their nuptials, her world comes tumbling down and the wedding is called off. Taylor's mom, Diane LaRue, wants nothing but the best for her daughter. Diane moved to New York for a modeling career, but ended up pregnant by a married man. Of course, the positive to come out of all of this was Miss Taylor. Diane steps in to help nurture her daughter out of the depression her breakup has caused. In the midst of trying to recover from heartbreak, Taylor meets NFL player Mike Washington. She decides to again step out and open her heart to love in RUNWAY COLLISION by Lamarlo G. Williams. Will Taylor find true love?

Williams creates an intriguing story of love in the fast lane. You can not even imagine the craziness that takes place in this story. But it will keep you glued to the pages to the very end. Looking forward to the next edition in this saga.

Marc Jacobs Adds Plus Sizes to Line

So what is PLUS size you ask? Well this is the fashion industry. So we are JUST talking a 18. Marc Jacobs currently goes up to a 16 and now will go to a WHOPPING 18! LOL!! Now this WAS announced on Twitter, so who knows if it is for real.

In the tweet, Marc Jacobs‘ CEO Robert Duffy says
“I’m a big guy 6′4” 210 lbs. It’s not easy for me to find clothes. We gotta do larger sizes. As soon as I get back to NY. I’m on it!”
Saks Fifth Avenue will also be adding plus sizes to designer lines by Chanel and Alexander McQueen.

Maybe Toccara can be the spokes person...if she stops losing weight! We know J-Hud can't do it!

What do you think!? Should more designers have larger sizes available?

Favorite Things

*singing* These are a few of my favorite things

So my NUMBER ONE favorite thing to do is NAP!! I still crack up at one of my friend's first memory of us hanging. What did we do?? Go to my house and take a NAP!!!!!!! It was so awesome! That connection bounded us together forever! LOL!!!! A nice SUNNY, COLD, or RAINY (as you can see any kind of weather) DAY on the couch doing NOTHING but napping and watching movies!! OOH...I love it! Look for my CD coming in the fall...NAPPING ON A SUNDAY!! :o)

Speaking of...I would say the next thing would be just laying on the couch. I swear my couch has some kind of hypnotic layer that MAKES you stay there. Some nights I want to stay there instead of getting in my bed! It's the ABSOLUTE best place in the house! Oh and please don't come over and try to sit in my spot! I'm sure to have an attitude or at least pout about it!

Next on the list is GRAPE SODA!! Man...I don't know where it came from but I love me some GRAPE soda!!! For my 25th birthday, my friends threw a PRE-birthday party called a GRAPE SODA SOCIAL. We watched a slide show, did make up, and drank Grape soda to our hearts content! It was AWESOME!! We went to St. Marteen in 2005 they had FANTA grape soda as an option in one of the local restaurants! And it's just perfect that all my friends LOVE Grape Soda too!!!?!?!?

I love Musicals. My favorites are THE WIZ (Ease on down, ease on down the road) Okay why did I think they were saying "Don't you carry nothing that might FEEDALOAD" What is a FEEDALOAD?? I don't know! LOL!!! THE LABYRINTH (You remind me of the babe. What babe?? The babe with the power. What power?? The power of Voodoo. Who do?? You do. Remind me of the babe.), & SISTER ACT ONE & TWO!!

I'm a little biased! I'll admit that I don't like the song breakdowns on the (for lack of a better phrase) "chitterling circuit" plays!!! I mean I love those plays but I could sure fast forward through some of those songs!!! They are so LONG and drawn out. All they are really doing is ad-libbing and you have NO IDEA what they are talking about!

And why do I love Musicals?? Because I LOVE singing!!! I mean, it may not sound great but I'm doing it anyway! Guaranteed to catch me singing SOMETHING at least three times a day! I've picked up this new fascination with KARAOKE!!! Well I can't say it's new, but it's definitely on another level now!!! And what do you know??? My friends love singing and karaoke too!! Gotta choose your friends wisely! :o)

So what are some of your favorite things?

Jaden & Willow Smith Will Launch a New Clothing Line?

Jaden Smith's Karate Kid premiered a few months back and the whole Smith family has been traveling the world promoting it. We have noticed that the Smith children have a style all their own. Willow has gotten TONS of recognition for "out of the box" style. The girl never has on just some jeans and a shirt. LOL

Mariel Haenn, hollywood stylist, tells Hollywoodlife.com

“With Rihanna, pretty soon after she came on the scene, you started seeing designers from Forever 21 to Gucci coming out with styles mimicking her look…We hope the same thing happens here, but I think the ultimate goal is for Willow and Jaden to have their own line. Jada said upfront that she didn’t want us to dress them like standard kids, like with Sesame Street T-shirts. And the kids really like dressing as adults and hope that adults will want to dress like them. But Jada will put her foot down if there’s something she doesn’t like, though if the kids really love it, she’ll usually let it pass."
Some of their gear is OVER THE TOP. But I think that a line would be cute for them! What do you guys think?

REVIEW: "Lottery Ticket"

We saw the sneak preview of "Lottery Ticket" last night. It's starring Bow Wow, Ice Cube, Naturi Naughton, and Brandon T. Jackson. It was way better than I thought!! And it was even better to know that the stars took some time out to come to the theater to say hello to the people that were about to see their film! It's not just a laughs and giggles kind of movie. There is a little message lying underneath. Now granted I was expecting the little guy from "Don't Be A Menace..." to jump out and scream "MESSAGE", but still! :)

Here's the synopsis...

Kevin Carson, a young man living in the projects, wins $370 million in a nationwide lottery. When his opportunistic neighbors discover he has the winning ticket in his possession, Kevin must survive their greedy and sometimes even threatening actions over a three-day holiday weekend before he can claim his prize.

Check it out on August 20th!

Why Do Black Women Wrap Their Hair At Night?

You can probably refer to the picture of Naomi Campbell about a month ago and just be done with it. But...

As if you didn't already know, black women need to wrap their hair at night to maintain a healthy head of hair. REALLY...it's not just about looks. It's about the health of the hair as well. If you go to bed all willy nilly and lay it down on the pillow you are begging for split ends. It's also unhealthy to apply heat to our hair on a daily basis. So wrapping the hair at night is a technique that will help to maintain a great look without using the curling iron.

If you paid Vicki $75 to get your hair done, you want it to last longer than 3 hours, right?? RIGHT!!! We already have the elements to fight...rain, humidity, that crazy man that brushed up against your head while you were in line at the grocery store. Let's NOT fight when we are at HOME!

But lately I've been hearing how men are really upset that their woman comes to bed at night with their head wrapped. I'm sure there have been some full blown discussions amongst couples about why a woman's hair is so important. OH...I know it's not just me! LOL!!! If they really love you then they need to love all that comes with being you! I guess we could try to at least make it a little cuter and not so grandma-ish. I know mine is down right ugly!! But it gets the job done like no other. So what it leaves the lines on the side of my head. I've tried to buy cuter ones and they just don't do it!

Do Men really mind?? They might not get it at that moment, but they sure do appreciate it at 8pm when y'all are headed to dinner and your hair is looking super fly! Again...do they really want this?

What do y'all think...to wrap or NOT to wrap? That is the question. :o)

DeJA Vu or Predictability?

Do you ever feel like you are having DeJA Vu ALL THE TIME!?!?!??!

Now I LOVE my life. I love my job, I love my house, I love my family and friends. But sometimes I just feel like I'm doing the same thing everyday!

It just hit me as I was cleaning out my cup getting ready to pour my coffee. I clean the cup the SAME way every morning and dry it off the SAME. It's like that is so predictable of me. So I'm telling my co-worker that it felt like DeJA vu. But then I'm like maybe not...maybe it's because I do the same thing everyday! He says that he likes that! It's comforting knowing that some things won't change and are predictable.

So I got to thinking. It IS comforting to know that certain things will happen or certain people will be there. It feels good knowing that you have a home to go to. It feels good knowing that you have a job to come to. It's nice to know that such and such is going to call. Knowing that your grandmother is praying for you. All those things...I really do WANT to be there.

So what do you all think!?!?!

Predictability...do you want it in your life??

DCSquared

ps-to all my homies that are always there for me...THANK YOU!!! ;o)
