YEAR END REVIEW

2011 was one of the BEST YEARS of my LIFE!!!! HANDS DOWN...no competition (Well...maybe 1980 cause I was born?? lol)

I scratched off the #1 thing on my bucket list!! I went to the OPRAH WINFREY SHOW! And not just anyone...but the LAST SHOW!! Still surreal! And guess who is in this week's Entertainment Weekly??

One of my girlfriends has been a great inspiration with her weight loss. She started Weight Watchers around this time last year and she looks amazing. So much so, WW picked her to be in their BELIEVE Campaign.

Experience of a LIFETIME...with Oprah



No your eyes are not deceiving you. That is ya girl and her man right there looking up Oprah's nose. :o)

Can you BELIEVE it?? Cause I surely can't.

Just last week I heard that a guy that we were in pre-marital class with, went to Oprah's huge finale at the United Center. We saw him in church on Wednesday and it HIT ME...Donnica this is the last show and you will never make it to the studio. Really??? The number one thing on my bucket list will NEVER happen? I've wanted to go for as long as I can remember. I wanted to have a grand trip for my 25th birthday (that came and went) and then again for my 30th (also gone). It wasn't until I realized the finale was taped that I able to release the fact that I would never make it to The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Well let me tell you how God works! He said Cool girl! You done took that chick off that pedestal and now I can bless you with your dream! YES...He can speak Ebonics if He wants to! :o) Friday afternoon I get an email saying that I have two tickets to the Monday taping of Oprah's show. I had my first ever panic attack. I didn't know WHAT to do. I had already taken off work a half day for the finale party I was having with my girlfriends, now I need to ask my boss for Monday and Tuesday so I can go to Chicago to BE on the finale.

Now WHO DO I TAKE?? WHEW!!!! I tried to call my mom at least 10 times. She didn't answer. I felt like the email was time sensitive and I wanted to reply IMMEDIATELY! I knew I couldn't choose between my girlfriends so my fiance was the next obvious choice. And that ended up being the BEST choice!

Originally the show was Monday and we thought we would have to do a turn around trip. Like drive up and get RIGHT IN LINE and drive back. Oh stop off to take a shower somewhere before hand. Can't stink for Oprah. But we were MORE than okay with this! But then they move the taping to Tuesday! Ooh GOOD we have a little more time to get there and relax! See how God was working it out???

We get there Monday and are able to do a little site seeing of Chicago.

We wake up early Tuesday morning and prepare for THE EVENT! We arrive to Harpo studios and are number 34 and 35 in live. BAM! Perfect!

Come to find out everyone got last minute tickets and they had a hard time booking the show.  Most people didn't believe that it was legit. I bet they are kicking themselves right now!

The wait wasn't long at all. We head up to the audience waiting area. Oh AFTER they have checked all our phones and cameras. So now we have gone under! LOL! As they are hyping the crowd and about to call everyone down, they announce that they will call out a few Ultimate Viewers names so they can have special seating.

DID YOU GUESS?

They called my name!!! 2nd panic attack in the last 3 days!!! Ed and I run down the stairs okay I run down the stairs, Ed walked lol to get in line to be escorted to the FRONT of the studio! I tried my best not to have the ugly cry and I didn't...my cry was FUGLY! LOL

They hyped the audience up and pulled Ed on stage. He pulled me up with him and we danced and just had the best time. Seriously...I was on the stage. So you KNOW I'm counting that as being ON the show too! LOL!!

Oprah's closest friends were also in the audience. Stedman, Gail, Gail's children, Maria Shriver, BeBe Winans, Cicely Tyson, Suze Orman, Bob Green. But FINALLY they announce that Lady O is coming down! And that brings us full circle back to this moment...

Ready to receive the wonderful message that Oprah had for her FINAL episode. It was amazing!

As we are walking out all every TV station is outside. Traffic is stopped and they have now renamed the street to Oprah Winfrey Blvd while we were in there taping the show!! CRAZY!!!

Definitely an experience of a lifetime!

"Jumping The Broom" Movie Review

The history of "jumping the broom" is in our blood. Marriage was not recognized for blacks during slavery. Jumping the broom was a symbol declaring they were now one. After the end of slavery, this ritual declined but still is quite a tradition in the African American community!

ANYWAY...on to the movie! :)

Quick Synopsis

Sabrina Watson and Jason Taylor have fallen madly in love and decide to get married after knowing each other only six months. Their families are not thrilled with the last minute affair. Sabrina is from a wealthy family that lives in the Hamptons. And Jason is from a single parent home in Brooklyn. When both families come together for, what's supposed to be, a wonderful wedding weekend, the family drama BEGINS!!!

My Review

WAYYYYYYY BETTER THAN EXPECTED!!! I could feel the love between the two characters. The supporting cast was HILARIOUS!! There was just enough drama. Not too over the top! I cried practically the whole movie while laughing at the same time. There were unexpected twists that really put the movie up there. Now was this the best movie ever? NO. But would I suggest you go see it? YES!

At one point in the movie, my mother leans over and whispers "I'm so glad you get along with Mr. E's mother". LOL And I'm so glad too!

 My newest addiction hobby!!! What better time for me to pick up on couponing than when I'm needing to save money for our wedding??? This stuff has CHANGED MY LIFE! I ain't lying! LOL!!

The hardest thing is just getting started! I've watched my coworkers do this for almost 4 years and still wasn't on my game like I should be. Then one day (SUNDAY) I just decided to get a paper. Just a mere $2 changed the game for me!! You are bound to find at least $2 worth of savings that apply to you! So it's worth it! then you combine that with going online.

Kroger and Publix have their own coupons that you can use WITH the manufacturer's coupons. That's called STACKING!! And they also double coupons that are $0.50 or less EVERDAY!! Check out their weekly ads so that you can go into the store PREPARED!

Only purchase what's on sale. I know that's hard but you can shop to the sales. Before you know it you will begin to have everything on hand that you need and then will only need the essentials (milk, bread, butter, etc.)


There are tons of sites dedicated to helping you find the best deals and even FREE items. They often put out what's free at Walmart, Target, CVS, Walgreens, as well as the grocery stores! They will tell you when the coupon was printed in the paper and sometimes even give you the link to a printable coupon.

Subscribe to their blogs and you can get the tips sent right to your email. I use google reader and I will just go there and all of my blog subscriptions are listed together. My fiance became a believer when he came with me on a mini run! My total then was $0.41!

Most of the stuff in there was for him! LOL!

I'll break this down a little!! If 30 is the the new 20 and you ain't even get started til you were 22...why do you want to go back? I think it just sounds good. Even Jigga got caught up! Now he is 40. Is that the new 30?? Or does he still want to go back to 20?
 
I KNOW I don't want to go back to 20. I mean I was about 30 lbs smaller...and I don't even want to go back to THAT! Still in school. Making no money. Acting crazy. Naw...y'all can keep that! I'll roll with thirty! Some of the best years of my life have been spent with people over 30. So I welcome myself to club! WHOOP WHOOP!! :o)

Teen Heart Throbs

I feel like I was robbed of some TRUE Teen Heart Throbs! I mean girls back in the day had The Beatles, David Cassidy, The Jacksons, need I go on????? NICK CANNON!!!

Who didn't love DrumLine??? And even before that when he was on Nickelodeon!! LOVED HIM!! The skinny and goofy Nick! Then he did Love Don't Cost A Thing which was a remake for Can't Buy Me Love (one of my FAVORITE 80s movies). I was sold! But somewhere he lost it and just started to TRY to hard. I just want to scream Nick you are cute...you are NOT sexy!! *Sigh*

Either way...he's living his life. Married to Mariah Carey and expected TWINS!! :) Still some how I feel JIPPED!
